Grievance Department
Every local agreement contains a grievance procedure. This part of the contract is what makes union members different from other workers and guarantees that you can not be fired or disciplined without just cause. It also provides a system whereby wages and conditions of employment can be maintained.
In 2010 the department was responsible for obtaining almost a million dollars in back pay and penalties through the grievance procedure.
