Stewards Corner

Local 5's shop steward's network is comprised of hard working volunteers committed to building a stronger union, for current and future members and for retirees.

The union has made it a cornerstone of the local's mission to create and maintain a stewards program that will better serve existing members and allow for a greater emphasis on organizing new workers. In order for this approach to work stewards will be required to take on a bigger share of the responsibility for representing members on the shop-floor, in politics and in the community. To this end Local 5 has set up a series of regular stewards meetings-trainings in the area offices and a yearly all day paid training session where all stewards from across the local are invited to attend.
